COMMUNICATIONS WITH JUDGE POWELL’S OFFICE REGARDING PENDING (open or closed) CASES

Principles of judicial ethics vigorously prohibits Judge Powell from communications regarding a case or document(s) filed in the court file, outside of hearings and all parties being served. This restriction also applies to Judge Powell’s Judicial Assistant, Reena Bozich (other than a request for hearing time).
Judge Powell will not discuss his cases with any party for any reason, outside of a hearing in the courtroom.
Furthermore, Mrs. Bozich is prohibited from relaying messages from a litigant or other individuals to Judge Powell.

Acceptable forms of communication:

1. Written documents filed in the court file and served on all parties; and
2. In the courtroom at the scheduled hearing.

HEARING REQUEST/PROPOSED ORDER:
Request for Hearing:

• File the Motion/Petition with the Clerk BEFORE requesting hearing time.
• All hearings must be scheduled through the Judicial Assistant, Reena. Email is the preferred method for scheduling (rbozich@ca.cjis20.org). Your email request must include the following:
  - Case Number (in subject line)
  - Case Name (in subject line)
  - Title of Motion
  - Amount of time requested for hearing.
