Please be advised of the updated Family Law measures pending before Division B Docket:

Email for Hearing Requests:

bnichols@ca.cjis20.org. The email should contain the case number, parties’ names, the pending motion/motions, date the motion was filed, and the length of hearing time requested. Please be advised you need to include the other party/counsel in your emails to this office.

Emergency matters will be handled on a case by case basis.

All requests for emergency or expedited hearings must be submitted to the Division B Docket Office by U.S. mail or hand delivery for the Court’s determination regarding scheduling of the motion.

Please do not submit pleadings or correspondence by email, as email submissions are not accepted.

Because multiple judges are overseeing emergency and urgent motions, all such requests should be delivered to this office.

Hearings:

All hearings are scheduled to be conducted in person.

When a hearing date is confirmed, you may file a motion requesting permission to appear via Zoom and let me know. The judge assigned to the hearing will decide whether to allow a remote appearance or require attendance in person.

E-Filing through the Portal:

All proposed orders must be submitted in WORD format. Parties must also ensure that the e-Portal case information is updated with email addresses for all parties and/or counsel of record.

Each proposed Order must include a complete Certificate of Service listing all parties and/or counsel, including email addresses whenever available. A street address should be included only if an email address is unavailable.

Any attachments referenced in the proposed Order must be attached to the Order at the time of submission.

A separate cover letter must accompany all proposed Orders. The cover letter must indicate whether all parties are in agreement with the proposed Order. If the parties are not in agreement, all proposed Orders must be submitted to my email.
